This is the one you want.

I have for sale a 1945 Kay M1 upright bass that was a custom restoration & rebuild by James Condino at .

The entire top and box were opened up, re-arched and rebuilt, new neck and tail blocks. A new custom oversize removable neck with 2 hidden carbon fiber structural beams was scroll grafted to the original Kay pegbox. Bolt on access is via a neodymium magnetic trap door in the C bout- fantastic for fast neck removal, instant setting of the soundpost, adding internal mics and pickups, and turning complex repairs into easy access simple tasks. You can see that the scroll volutes are missing- common on about 50% of the old Kays we see. Consider it a badge of honor or easy to restore if bothered by it. The original thick Brazilian rosewood fingerboard had a tapered shim added to get the neck angle and bridge height up to a modern 6 1/2". Original Brazilian rosewood tailpiece with mint original decal; Upton Revolution Solo pickup. The whole neck breaks down to a tidy small unit that fits in a P bass gig bag and the body easily fits in the seat or trunk of the smallest cars.

This is a fantastic vintage Kay with a ton of mojo and another 50 years of hard gig life in it.

A great excuse to come up to the mountains and visit beautiful Asheville, North Carolina.
