Player's Perspective

The single-pickup version of the L-2000, G&L's L-1500 is all about power and simplicity. It has a stripped down look, comfortable styling and great build quality. Open-position grooves are easy, and the upper register is very forgiving on your playing hand. Tone-wise, this bass manages to provide plenty of musical, usable sounds without offering tons of stuff you'll never use. This bass has only one pickup, but there are more tones packed into it than in some 3-pickup configurations. You can dial in your exact sound and be as specific as you want, whether you play blues, metal, jazz, rock, or funk. Read on for specifics.

Item Details This G&L USA L-1500 features an alder body with a cherryburst finish. The maple neck is carved to G&L's modern medium 'C' shape, and it has a maple board with a 12" radius and 21 PLEK dressed medium jumbo frets. Electronically, this bass sports a G&L MFD humbucker wired to the flexible Tri-Tone system. There are two mini toggles for series/parallel function and active/passive operation. The knobs are volume, treble and bass. You can dial in every kind of sound imaginable on this bass. The Saddle-Lock bridge transfers string energy to the body more efficiently than standard bridges, and it also makes for quick and easy string changes.
