1989 American
Vintage Reissue Fender USA Stratocaster Body
Classic Lake
Placid Blue relic!
**** SOLD on ebay for $600 ****
Up for sale is this genuine, Fender USA Strat AVRI body, pulled from a reissue of the classic 1962 Stratocaster. It was made in Corona, CA in 1989. This Fender '62 Reissue body is a great example of how good the early Reissue models were, built by only the best Fender builders. Oscar Pallares went on to work in Fender's Custom Shop. Here's your chance to own one of Fender's best bodies made by a Custom Shop builder, with old wood and true vintage tone.
Background:
The Fender USA
American Vintage Reissue Strats feature top-of
the-line quality, and are a reproduction of the
original Stratocasters. Don't confuse this body with
the many other non-USA bodies on eBay and elsewhere
- some sellers go out of their way to avoid telling
you they are made in Mexico or Japan or god knows
where. This is a genuine Fender USA product, made in
the early days of the Corona plant, before these
became mass-produced. The body will work with with
any standard Strat neck, but is intended for the
vintage-spec necks, i.e. the '56, '57, '62 and '65
Reissue Stratocasters.
Quick Specs:
"Comfort Contour" shape alder wood body, finished in a stunning blue Nitrocellulose
Lacquer. This body accepts
the vintage (6-screw) Fender USA tremolo bridge that
uses 2 + 7/32" string spacing, and takes any
single-coil Strat pickups. The neck pocket has the
standard US Strat width: 56 mm (2 and 3/16"). Actual bare weight is just under 4 pounds -
comfortably light!
Condition:
This
Vintage Reissue body is heavily and naturally reliced from
decades of real use, not by some hack relic job. The natural
wear includes dings, dents, scratches and scrapes nearly
everywhere, as well as those cool crack lines in the nitro
finish. I tried to capture it all as well as I could in the
pictures. No serious damage is present, and functionally the
body is fine. In fact, inside it is better than new
- the previous owner added copper shielding and black
shielding paint inside the pickup and pot cavities. This
modification - which can't be seen once the pickguard is
mounted - works very well indeed. I own a 1992 AVRI Strat,
and compared it directly with this Strat before dismantling
it. Hum and noise were about half of what my Strat
generates. Just keep in mind that you have to run a ground
wire to the shielding when you put this baby back together.
The shielding could be removed without much trouble if you really want to, but take my word
for it: if you plan on playing this guitar, leave the
shielding in place.
Just what you see pictured - the bare body itself, with the installed shielding, sold "as-is". The pickguard shown in one picture is not included but available at extra cost, as is the vintage bridge, and other Strat parts. And if you are on a budget (who isn't?) I offer a 5% cash discount if you pay by any means that doesn't cost me a fee, email me for details.

cost more than the quoted price in the listing, and UPS will not
ship to PO Boxes. If you have any questions, feel free to email
me.

cheaper intl. shipping options that do not offer insurance
if you pay with Paypal or a credit card, I won't respond
to such emails. Be aware that some
