The Stromberg Master 400 is considered the largest, loudest and most beautiful archtop guitar ever made. Much. much rarer than the D'Angelico New Yorker (there were just a handful of Master 400's made by Charles Stromberg in Boston, Mass in the 1930's, 40's and early 50's until his death). The guitar measures a mammoth 19" wide across the lower bout and was designed to cut through any orchestra to be heard pre-amplification. (Listen to Freddie Green of the Count Basie Orchestra) This example is pristine and completely original except for the pickguard which was made to exact Art-Deco specifications. Carved spruce top and solid maple sides and back. Just a gorgeous, expensive instrument (iIT FEELS EXPENSIVE-the neck is sublime) this guitar MAKES a collection. Unparalled craftsmanship it should be a generational acquisition that passes from one generation to the next. Comes with original 19" plus wide case (impossible to find otherwise).
