The all new Helios Eclipse!!
By now, I'm sure most of you have heard about our newest amp, from the talk on the gear forums and social media. We are very pleased to announce the official release of Bogner's newest offering, the 100 watt, hand-wired, 3-channel, Helios Eclipse.
Powered by a quartet of EL34's, the Eclipse's power amp shares the same DNA as the Helios 100, but there are several features that set the two apart. The addition of a third channel, gives the player the ability to now have a dedicated clean channel and two dirty channels, all foot switchable. The clean channel has a volume control, 3 position bright switch and a shared presence control, which is now located on the back of the amp. The Eclipse will come standard in black tolex, in the smaller headshell, like the 50 watt Helios, occupying less space than the Helios 100.
Tone wise, the most obvious difference between the Helios 100 and the Eclipse, is the amount of gain on tap, in channels II and III. Both channels have their own, 3 position gain switch, featuring 70, 80 and eclipse/eclipse+ modes. Channel II's eclipse mode offers a level of gain that surpasses the Helios 100, while remaining clear, tight and articulate and without becoming muddy or over-saturated. Channel III's eclipse+ mode has even more over the top gain, yet still retains clarity and punch.
Along with the relocated presence control, the back panel also features a bottom control, to add depth and emphasize the lower frequencies. There is also a variac switch, which drops the voltage, allowing the player to utilize all four power tubes and still attain high gain, at a more controlled volume.
