1994 Ibanez Ghostrider GR520 Orange Burst. Top of the Ghostrider line!
Serious collectors item!
This is my final price drop. If it doesn't sell soon I might as well keep it. I put lots of time getting this guitar just right. Just want to pass it along to someone who will appreciate it. Hurry before I change my mind.
Rare, only made for only 3 years.
Harmony Central Rated this guitar "5 Stars" 10 reviews in a row! Ibanez hidden jem.
Others have sold for $800, not as nice as this one!
Comes with Original hardshell case.
Has the Ibanez Artist neck 24 3/4" scale.
Very colorful abalone and white mother of pearl inlays.
Body is alder with maple cap.
6 ply binding on body.
Neck is mahogany with rosewood fretboard. Stained dark, looks like ebony. 3 ply binding on neck.
Plays and sounds great.
Just added a gold plated aluminum stob bar tailpiece. Cuts on weight and adds more tone!
Medium jumbo frets, Almost no fret wear!
Just strung with 10"s and intonation set.
The volume knob is vintage from 1982.
This guitar is extremely versatile.
This is a players guitar so a couple of minor surface scratching, nothing through the finish.
Customized electronics:
Pickups are dimarzio 36th anniversary PAF humbuckers. With Alnico 5 magnets!
Fully foil shielded control cavity.
Small three way switch puts pickups in humbucker, single coil or parallel.
Parallel sounds like single coil without the hum.
The volume knob has a push pull for "out of phase" sound when both pickups are selected.
That's a total of 12 sounds possible out of 2 humbuckers!
Of course this is not the same guitar in the video below, but this is the closest I could find to the versitility of mine.
From Ibanez site:
The Ibanez Ghostrider (GR) series is a line of electric guitar models manufactured by Hoshino Gakki and sold under the Ibanez brand. The series debuted in 1994. It was based on various 'prototype' models made in the Ibanez Los Angeles Custom Shop and played by professionals like Al Jourgensen, Shawn Lane, Alex Skolnick and Paul Gilbert.
The GR model is somewhat based on the classic Artist model, but has a more contoured body and an alder body instead of mahogany. It has a bit flatter set-in mahogany neck with a 24.75 inch scale length. The GR520 had a maple top and a Full Tune bridge and tailpiece. All GR models were produced in Japan, except the GR520 which was made in Korea at the Samick plant in 1995.
The series was discontinued in 1996. The GR520 was the only GR model produced all three years of Ghostrider production.
