About This Listing

I've gone back and forth about selling this, even listing it here then taking it down. This is really opening up to be a great sounding guitar and I'd really like to be able to keep a PL1 rather than make them only to send off. But there are a few shop upgrades I'd like to do too.

For sale is a PL1 at about a 15% discount. I built this guitar especially for this years NAMM show, where Wide Sky Guitars was featured along with 30 other small builders in the Boutique Guitar Showcase. The top is an incredible piece of salvaged Cedar which has beautiful streaking through the grain, the back and sides are highly figured Sapele.

The PL1, is a replica of the iconic 100 year old Gibson L-1. Originally a carved top I’ve braced this version and given it a tighter top radius of 15’ to give it more of an arch top look. I’ve carved a thinner, more playable neck than the baseball style necks found on the originals. I’ve also made a deeper body, similar to the “Nick Lucas Special” era of Gibson.

Salvaged Red Cedar top, figured Sapele back and sides, Mahogany neck, Ebony fret board and bridge, Black Pearl inlay, Golden Age Restoration tuners. 1-11/16" nut on a 24.562" scale neck with a 12" radius. Removable Maple black pick guard. Oil finish. Custom TKL brown alligator case.

Handmade in Taos, NM.
