! Please note this is a build-to-order listing. $1299+. We are a small independent guitar shop and leave sold custom guitars listed to show off what we can do. If you like what you see, don’t hesitate to reach out to start your own custom build!!
This listing is for our "in house" USA built custom Pickard Teles. These are routinely in stock, but also frequently spec'd by customers with a 6 week approximate delivery time.
......A North Carolina native musician Sam Kossler recently went on tour with Pat Green using his Pickard "Red Neck" tele and gave us some wonderful advice: "It needs to look like a tele, feel like a tele, and sound like a tele.....just make it nicer"!
So, that's what we are attempting to do here with this project. We love building "one-off" really unique custom guitars, but as we've learned, Tele-guys just want a tele..... Most recently, during the covid outbreak, we've made what we believe to be several significant improvements to this platform. 1. Reinforced the neck pocket with a glued block of Bubinga or Black Walnut, for stronger "footing" 2. Modified the neck angle and glued the neck rather than bolting it into the pocket. 3. Fabricate our own toploading tailpiece from cold-rolled mild steel thats significantly thicker than traditional style overseas tele bridges.....paired with brass saddles.
We feel that these changes haves yielded greater clarity and sustain with the instrument. *In addition, we've established a relationship with Porter custom pickups, making them standard on our teles.
"There's no doubt that the telecaster is one of the most duplicated models of the modern electric guitar....why?.....Because they're simple and they're workhorses! After owning about a dozen "boutique" teles, I'm still not sure what makes a tele "boutique". It's such a straightforward platform for a guitar, use real wood and make a nice neck, and chances are you'll have a fantastic guitar without spending a ton of cash. So that was the goal with this guitar, make it play great, and make it affordable. I think we nailed it with this guitar, it's not choked up with a ton of paint, you can actually feel the vibrance of the solid pine body, and it just works!" Jason Pickard
