This
is a Gibson Vibra-Rest from the 1950s. They were for use on guitars with trapeze tailpieces and only raise the pitch, not lower it like a Bigsby. Overall the box is in really
good shape to be some 60 years old. The unit
itself is in great condition and just looking at it I wonder if it was
ever installed or used. Great piece of case candy, memorabilia, or collector item.
The top of the box says Gibson, Vibra-Rest, For A Clear Distinctive Vibrato, Easily Attaches, Adjustable In Any Position, Gibson INC, Kalamazoo, Mich. One end of the box says Gibson Vibra-Rest, Nickle, $12.50, the other end is blank. The bottom of the box has some writing on it from wherever it was sold and it looks like it sold at some point back then for $10.88. The inside lid has instructions, bottom section of box has original padding.
