Here’s an odd one, alright. This bass, simply marked “W” on the headstock, was made in the 1970’s in Japan and has had quite a life thus far. “W” is likely short for either Winston or Weltron, but it’s hard to pin down concretely. Electronically it sounds full in body and very punchy all around. The neck has some buzzy kind of artifacts way high up on the fretboard, but otherwise it plays similar to how it sounds. The yellow paint is not original but it was applied well and really ties the room that is this bass together.
