The original Les Paul model was designed by Gibson in response to the growing popularity of the Fender Telecaster. It featured two single-coil P-90 pickups, a trapeze tailpiece, and a Mahogany slab body with a curved Maple top.

Les Paul himself endorsed a solid gold finish to make the guitar appear high-end and luxurious. This quickly became known as the "GoldTop". Although most Gold Tops have exactly that, a gold-colored maple top with a natural brown back, a few were made with an all-gold finish––in this example we see an early, rare, possibly one-off guitar featuring a gold top and back but an unpainted neck. Please see additional photos of this guitar under a blacklight.

This example is in very good shape with only some cosmetic wear to consider, so please look over photographs carefully. Almost no lacquer checking that always seems to plague guitars this old. All original parts, great vintage sound. Comes with original Gibson hardshell case.
