So here's a model that you may have seen with the headstock label of "Rockoon by Schaller" RCB-69. (Made in Japan by Kawai) Somewhat rare.
Well, this one is quite the rarity as its headstock is simply labeled "Kawai". However, everything is the same on this bass as it is on the RCB-69, wisely leaving off the cheesy F-hole decal. Schaller pickups, Schaller Gibson EB style bridge, Gotoh tuners. And it's a 30" scale bass!
Obviously borrowing the legendary Les Paul shape, it feels super comfortable to play.
Sounds great too. Definitely on the Gibson side of things, and ready to rock.
Build is very solid. Nice touches like lacquer on the neck which extends to the sides of the fretboard give it a higher end feel.
The top of the body is very clean aside from the usual finish swirls . There are some blemishes elsewhere (see pics), but overall the bass photographs well and does not show its wear.
The bridge design can lend itself to leaning towards the headstock over time. I had some grommets installed in the posts to get a good, stable angle for the bridge and to improve the action. Truss is fully operational.
It will be shipped in a nice gig bag, and well packed.
