This amp was just recapped, a 3 prong power cord added and the input was converted to 1/4" at the Control panel.
We also installed a NEW Jensen C8 speaker.
It came to us loaded with Tung-Sol 6V6s. Other tubes include a 5Y3 rectifier and a 6N7 preamp/Phase Inverter. I believe the 6N7 is the controlling/limiting factor in the overall volume of this amp as it is nowhere near what you would expect from an amp with 2-6V6s. More like 2-3 watts! Kind of wimpy plugging straight in.
The SECRET SAUCE to this amp is:
1. Adding a 1/4" Speaker OUT that kills the onboard 8" Jensen and runs through any 12", 2x12" or whatever cab you like.
2. But the HUGE difference is in using the INCLUDED EQ pedal! Of course you gain the benefit of shaping your overall tone but because this pedal has an Output slider, it acts as a Input BOOST a well.
THAT turns this amp into an absolute CHAMP KILLER and more! Just incredible! Use your guitar volume to control it and kill bigger amps with this set up and your speaker cab.!
