About This Listing

Moog DFAM Drummer From Another Mother

The Moog DFAM, or, Drummer From Another Mother, is a semi-modular, percussive 8-step synthesizer extremely easy-to-use - no patching required. As the first member of the Mother-32 family, the DFAM opens up a whole new way to expand the rhythmic sequences of your performances.

The fact that DFAM requires no patching to begin a sequence allows any user to start creating patterns with little to no learning curve. The sounds are initially created with a white noise generator and two wide-range analog oscillators, which can then be reshaped using the Hard Sync and FM Modulation to create dynamics in the rhythm, change the EQ, resonance, or alter the voice completely.

The oscillators are then followed by the famous Moog Ladder Filter with the option to select between a low or high pass filter. Utilizing the low pass filter will create more distress and dimension in whatever sound you’re working on, adjusting the high pass filter can expose more of the transient, note, and air of the sound.

The DFAM is equipped with three dedicated analog envelopes which work intuitively with the sequencer, this allows the sequencer to have a "living, breathing" feel similar to a live drummer. The analog envelopes ensure that the kicks, snares and toms have dynamic and crack and the ambiance of any effect is increased with the velocity. Each of these settings can easily be controlled with the turn of a knob.

For further control of the DFAM, Moog has included patch cables to be used with the onboard 24-point modular patchbay. This can be used to expand on the internal sounds, link multiple DFAM or Mother-32 units together, or integrate the DFAM into your current Eurorack Modular Synthesizer setup.
