Kind of rare, and definitely a wee bit different to the usual Doozy styling as John Platania's Americana influence is heavy on this one.  An early 2002 Doozy JP, with some wonderful flaming to the back to be seen though the translucent black finish. I have this thing about the care that goes into early edition guitars, and so was delighted when I picked up this one in 2003 just before the Doozy bandwagon really started rolling and production numbers increased..

I believe the JP model was heavily modified around 2008 with a a piezo and 4 band EQ added, this layout it was in turn simplified before being discontinued in 2012.  So please be aware this is the early 2002 JP model.

SPECIFICATION:
  • Pretty much as the Duesenberg C.C, but with a twist (see below).
  • The J.P. is a large body, semi hollow, dual pickup, 22 fret electric guitar, featuring arched top and back, bent sides and a 647mm scale.
  • The construction of the J.P is similar to that of the Starplayer TV but is designed for those who like a big body guitar.
  • Spruce top and a flamed maple for the back and sides.
  • Doozy guitars are USUALLY fitted with Duesenberg own hardware. Designed with attention to even the smallest details to create truly unique instruments from tuner buttons to jack plates. EXCEPT this early JP model has some eccentricities such as genuine Kluson machine heads, factory fitted with a very unique tuning buttons.  The tone control voicings were also (apparently) to JP's spec, although I cannot verify this.  There is not a lot of info online and some applies to the later model, so it gets a bit confusing.
  • The Duesenberg vibrato proves to be one of the best of its kind, providing buttery operation and outstanding tuning stability.  Also worth noting the vibrato can be bypassed, and the strings threaded through the tension bar instead - neat!
  • Classically wound GrandVintage humbucker in the bridge is paired with open Domino P90 singlecoil in the neck for a great versatile sounding guitar.
  • The 3 way switch has a hidden 4th position (lodged between bridge and middle positions) which gives a parallel wiring / slightly out of phase sound beloved of Fender users.   Very funky...

CONDITION*: B (Very Good Used Condition for 16 year old guitar).  Small areas of fading in hardware, as to be expected, mainly on pickup covers and vibrato arm.  It has has some light gigging with its first owner (Chris Jagger, Mick's brother) for a few weeks/months. I have owned the guitar from 2003 and it has been used in only the studio.  A few light button scratches to back (clear coat only) but no deep gouging.  Clothes lines and pick marks on pickguard and the odd minor scratch or mark if you look really closely.  Little or no fretwear.  Older style textured finish Duesenberg case in good condition overall considering the years (although one pin needs replacing on the handle, currently held with wire).

PLEASE MESSAGE ME FOR MORE IMAGES OR INFO IF IN DOUBT.

* NOTE: Condition always relative to age: A = factory mint, A- = shop new or never used s/h, B++ = outstanding used condition (all original, studio only, ungigged), B+ exceptionally good condition for year (all original, light gigging & studio), B = very good condition for year (probably original, played but well looked after), B- generally good played used condition (possibly not all original, see listing details). C+ = Above average for year despite regular use, usual play wear and marks consistent with age (possibly not all original, see listing details). C = Average condition for year with expected marks, buckle rash, dings etc from regular use (possibly not all original, see listing details)

It will arrive with a general set up with a generic medium/low action, light neck relief, overall good to go (in this case with 10 gauge strings). Detailed tweaking will be down to the buyer depending on style and preferences and the type of neck, the type of guitar, the type of strings etc. As a seller I cannot anticipate any of this!

Cash on collection very much preferred, and gives chance to come and inspect this wonderful instrument.  Or I am prepared to meet buyers within a sensible driving distance from Weston- super-Mare if this makes life easier - but surely this is not the guitar for a M/Way services cash on collection deal?

Postage: Fully insured* via UPS Standard in the UK. This is usually a next day service in mainland UK. It is fully trackable.

Scottish Highlands and Islands or NI: please contact me before bidding so I can obtain a quote.

EU delivery is possible: please contact me to discuss this before bidding. Ignore any postage price and insurance* cover given in the listing details, as I have no control over this. Prices vary from one EU country to the other, and I will obtain the best possible quote available with insurance cover.

IMPORTANT SHIPPING CONDITIONS - PLEASE READ:
(1) I do not use cheap generic carriers or RM/ParcelForce - please don't ask - it is a false economy. I try to obtain the best deal possible deal on UPS or FedEx, both of which have proved to be the most reliable with musical instruments over the years.
(2) I use next service whenever possible, so I never post on Fridays. It simply means items stuck in cold warehouses over the weekend (where mischief can happen) awaiting Monday delivery. I will dispatch the following Monday for Tuesday delivery.  I generally sell fragile items such as electronics and musical instruments, none of which will benefit from extended delivery times, excessive handling or being stuck in cold warehouses.
(3) Please ensure the delivery address is correct and registered with ebay/PayPal.
(4) Please ensure that someone will be at the registered delivery address to accept the item.  If there will be no-one at home on the scheduled delivery day then register an alternative work address with Reverb/PayPal so that can be used instead.  Failure to deliver will just lead to excessive handling of fragile item and unnecessary delay - not to mention the hassle of sorting out alternative times and arrangements.
(5) I have been shipping guitars worldwide for 15 years, and in 99% of these instances everything has gone smoothly. On only one occasion has a claim been required against the courier, which was successfully resolved. All my items are packed carefully with regard to shipping regs (I use my own shipping cartons). In the unlikely event of any shipping issues (damage, delays, loss etc) I will do my utmost to assist the buyer to obtain a satisfactory outcome with the courier.
(6) Please enquire for the terms of shipping/insurance cover for exclusions or special conditions. I always obtain 'full' insurance cover, which protects against loss or total damage (some couriers limit their liability to £50). But be aware liability for repairs in the unlikely case of accident in transit would be subject to the rules of the insurer and the provision of corroborating evidence.

I do not ship outside of the EU because of new CiTES regulations.
