About This Listing

You are looking at one of the 300 rarest Paul Reed Smith guitars made. After purchasing I sent it in to Paul Reed Smith to setup and confirm all of the specs on it. I have included pictures from their inspection. Purchase will include copy of the email documenting it from them that states:

"Limited Edition - Limited run of 300, one piece mahogany neck, one-piece quilted maple top, Brazilian rosewood fretboard, abalone bird inlays, semi-hollow mahogany body with Vintage treble and Vintage bass pickups. This appears to have been made for Vince Neil which is written in the pickup cavity."

From the PRS Website it states: LIMITED EDITION: 1990 - 1991. Signature grade woods, semi-hollow body with cedar, redwood, or maple top, gold hardware, tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece (a few tremolo equipped guitars were made), signed and numbered, only 300 made.

Here is a quote from the PRS Guitar Book that states:

"the Limited Edition has to be one of the rarest and least-known PRS models. It was announced in 1989 and was the first PRS guitar to feature as standard a non-vibrato Tune-o-matic bridge and stud tailpiece (gold plated only), The body of the Limited Edition had hollow tone chambers, but was without any f-holes. Although of Signature quality and price, the guitar introduced timbers for tops that were new to PRS, primarily cedar and redwood (Although some even rarer examples are known in curly maple, and even possible lacewood). The Limited Edition was intended as a limited run of 300 guitars." "the Limited Edition proved that there was a lucrative market for the ultimate-quality limited-production guitars."

This is one of the rarest Maple Tops....and One Piece Maple Top to make it that much more rare.

This stunning instrument is #178 of the 300 Limited Edition guitars made in 1990. As you likely know, this run of guitars directly followed Paul's original Signature Series and were effectively considered the continuation of that series. Like the Signature Series, these were all hand signed and numbered by Paul himself. In my opinion, they are about as collectible as any PRS is or will be. Better yet, they are also wonderful players. The fact that this is a ONE PIECE MAPLE TOP on top of the fact that it was made for Vince Neil takes this from being comparable to the 2 piece maple tops to being a ONE OF A KIND.

The body is semi-hollow with tone chambers, and it sounds phenomenal. It has the original tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, which was another defining aspect of this series. The tuners are locking PRS, in gold. Fretboard is Brazilian rosewood. Pickups are original and appropriately marked. It has the small heel and bird inlays.

This guitar will come with all the paperwork that I have with it which includes their old address pre-factory on the registration card, the email from PRS and the OHSC. This was setup professionally by the PTC after they received it as well and has not been played since I got it back. Frets are immaculate and the body is a 9 out of 10.

This is literally a piece of rock history and guitar history in one. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Please no low ball offers as this is as good as it gets for ANY Paul Reed Smith Collector. his has been in a smoke free home and I have no doubt you will love this guitar as much as myself when you hold onto it.

Shipping will be insured and signature will be required upon delivery. US Shipping only considering laws around the Brazilian Rosewood neck.

Thank you for looking and I look forward to working with you.
