Wait a second, is this a LP?

Well.... let me explain the story behind this guitar a bit.

By 1973, the communist administration of East Germany decided that all guitar production shall be consolidated within one musical instruments manufacturer, and Musima was decided to be the brand under which every musical instruments production in the GDR was combined.

This stopped the production of all the different models of electric and acoustic guitars in East Germany, and after that a consolidated line of guitar models was designed and released, which pretty much stayed the only guitars produced in the GDR until the late 80s (when Musima realised that it would be a good idea to start making ST style copies - see my other offers where you can buy one of these excellent ST copies, the Lead Star).

This guitar is one model from the 1974 line of guitars. It was called the "25k", the "25" maybe coming from the 25th anniversary of the GDR in 1974, but we don't know for sure.

The guitar was the first and only one in the GDR to have a "Les Paul-style" shape, but that was all which it has in common with its famous counterpart. It features two Alnico 5 single coils, a screwed on control plate with a tone selector switch (much like on previous GDR electrics), a birch body and maple neck and a zero fret. The body has some kind of arch, but is pretty much flat.

It plays well and the pickups deliver a nice vintage single coil sound. This will definitely make the guitar police in the audience wonder what kind of 3.000 $ Boutique guitar you might have there :-)

Condition:

The guitar is in a good condition for its age with some clear marks of use. The neck is well adjustable with a Hagström-like truss rod system. It is a chunky neck. Frets and fretboard are in good condition with small marks of use.

Of course there are some scratches to be found, and the frets and fretboard show some tolerable wear. See the pics please for more details. Please note that the electronics plate has been replaced with a new one (the old ones are falling apart due to natural degrading). Knobs are not original.

Electrics:

The electrics work fine, the pickups sound very much like vintage single coils. With the tone selector switch you can dial in different sound flavors, while the volume and tone poti work for all settings.

Sound and Playability:

The guitar plays easily with a very low string action.

Frets, Repairs, Service:

Guitar restored completely, cleaned, fretboard oiled, tuners oiled, frets polished, new 10 gauge strings attached,  The guitar comes detuned for shipping.
