I purchased this guitar in Seattle around 15 years ago from someone who bought it as a custom hot-rod creation from and by Brian Wicks around 1999-2000 (I'm trying to get a hold of him). Wicks is best known for making custom guitars for Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse. Its interesting because he puts Filtertrons in the bridge with a tremolo on all Brock's guitars and there is a Dynasonic in the bridge with a Bigsby on this one. A P-90 in the rhythm position. The P-90 sits a little low and the Dynasonic sits a little high. This makes for a fast right hand playing live because the outputs are just unbalanced enough to notice it. I imagine thats as high as it would go without top-mounting it.
***ADDENDUM- again, this guy is very hard to get ahold of. Feel free to try, "Wicks Guitars Lewiston, Montana. Pickup identification soon.

The biggest boast this guitar has is that the back was taken off and a center-block was installed which makes for a full size hollow body in the spirit of a es 335. So it can be played at full volume live without feedback. The tone is beyond full for rock and especially blues. I have destroyed Les Paul's with it.

The top of the body appears to be solid spruce and the bottom/sides faux tiger striped that implies laminate. The outsourced Gibson bodies of the 30's-40's didn't have tiger stripes that I know of so it was likely made during the 30's-50's in Chicago. The neck is a beautiful and straight, flamed maple with an ebony fretboard and an open-book headstock. I don't know if Wicks ordered this or made it himself. Its a slimmer fast 60's style like you would find on an es 125 from the 60's. Thats the best way I can describe it. The tuners are Schallers.

When Wicks relocated to Montana around the time I bought this guitar he was impossible to get ahold of. I had a lot of questions but then became more interested in playing it. After deciding to put it up for sale I've found he has an established shop in Montana now. I should be able to fill in some blanks in a couple of days hopefully.

I've never pulled the pickups, mainly because I'm a vintage freak and recovering pickup snob. I didn't want to see a SD P-90 in there because I knew I wouldn't play it. Some stupid inflexible "vintage only" creed I'd held onto for years. And the tone, despite the pickup imbalance, sounded too good. The P-90 was also put in when the back was off so I didn't want to mess with it. I'll pull them in the next 24 hours, I'm 99% positive the Dynasonic is pre-Fender, if its the real deal I'll either pull it or the price will go up, same with the P-90 if its from the 60's so buy now haha.
This is an early hot-rod from a now well known luthier and builder whose custom guitars now fetch over 3k.

The case is an old Lifton gator from the 40's-50's and came with the guitar. These are worth their extra weight in shipping. This one is pretty beat up but still holds significant value.

This sale is final unless it arrives other than pictured or described. Please ask all questions/ request pictures before purchasing.

Shipping- do to its weight will be $100 to the west coast and $130 east of the Mississippi. Its set at $130 but the buyer will be reimbursed $30 when all is done if their west of the Mississippi. Like all other guitars I've shipped it will be packed for war. Please check out my other guitars and amps here and eBay along with my positive feedback "mckeef7" (since 2002)
