A fiddle without a bow? A quiet bagpipe? Descended from the organistrum this is a hurdy gurdy built by Nouveau. It's a flat back with a solid spruce top, solid domestic hardwood body and keybox, with exotic hardwood covers, pegs, and buttons. The wheel is made of maple banded laminate birch (said to provide the best stability and cleanest sound). This instrument has a full 2 octave chromatic keybox range. Structurally and cosmetically this instrument is almost new and in excellent condition! We are not hurdy gurdy players ourselves, but a customer who tested it stated it played easily and had a very good sound. We have posted a video of similar style hurdy gurdy--please note that this is NOT the one we are selling; we are simply posting it to give you an approximation of the sound (since we are not players ourselves). New price is advertised at $2400.00.
