Charvel. Kramer. Kline. 1980's shredder. WHAT?
If you like 1980's shredder guitars this one is for you.
This is an EXTREMELY rare, and collectible KLINE ART GUITAR. When was the last time you saw a Kline artwork on a Charvel? I have never seen one.
Who is Kline? He was the premier airbrush artist of the 1980's. He is still one of the best artists painting guitars. He is famous for his work with Kramer Guitars. If you saw artwork on any Kramer in the 1980's, chances are good it was a Kline. He has painted guitars for many famous guitar, and bass players over the years. See the vintage advertisement. It shows the exact same HollyWood artwork.
About this guitar.
I purchased this guitar from a person that believed it was a Vintage Kramer Baretta with a Charvel neck. He probably thought it was a Kramer do to the Famous 1989 Kline artwork.
This guitar is NOT a Kramer. This is a Vintage 1980's parts guitars. THIS IS A VINTAGE 1980'S PARTS GUITAR! To be absolutely clear.
It is however made from some awesome parts. It is also a KLINE.
After weeks of research. I believe this is a vintage 1980's USA, made Charvel San Dimas body. Several indicators of this. The routings are the biggest clue.
It has been brought to my attention that there is a possibility that this might be a Dimarzio body. However I see no signs of a Dimarzio branding in the neck pocket. Some Dimarzio bodies were made by Charvel San Dimas for a while in the 80's. This very well could could be a regular Dimarzio body, in the shape of a Charvel body, and not a Charvel made body. I just don't have proof either way.
Here are the details.
Body: 1980's Charvel San Dimas body, possibly a Dimarzio body, with custom Kline artwork. The artwork was dated 1989. The artist printed his (name and hollywd) in the neck pocket. It has a few dings and a few finish cracks. There is no tremolo back plate on this guitar, or holes for mounting one. The holes were probably painted over. It has Schaller strap locks installed. See pictures.
Neck: Birds eye maple neck, with birds eye maple fret board. This is a Mighty Might neck. It has a Floyd Rose R4 nut, It has vintage 1980's Jackson logo tuning machines on it. It has 22 frets. The frets are in like new condition with NO wear on them. It is a 25 1/2 inch scale length. There are a few minor blemishes, the finish has some wear. A Charvel logo was applied to the head stock by a prior owner. The neck plate is of unknown origins. It is metal, and black with a plastic spacer like Fenders and Charvel's. The serial # is stamped E711xxx. See pictures.
Bridge: This is an Original Floyd Rose bridge from the 1980's. It is the best version of this tremolo. It works flawlessly and stays in tune.
Pickup: The pickup looks newer. It is a Dimarzio Tone Zone. Sounds good.
This guitar has been set up by a Certified/Authorized Fender guitar tech. It was setup with D'Addario 9 gage strings.
This guitar has low action. It plays fast and smooth. It sounds great, and plays great.
It is being sold with a TKL hardshell case.
This is a piece of 1980's history. Feel free to ask any questions. This guitar is in great condition for it's age. It has a few minor finish blemishes, and finish cracks due to the thick poly finish over the art work. It has a finish crack over the Y in Hollywood, and around the Floyd Rose posts. This is only in the finish. See pictures. This is normal for guitars like this.
This guitar is being sold as is.
