Carvin V 220 this is a 1985 model and was made in the USA from hard rock maple, and these were very heavy and solid made guitars. The set neck is also hard rock maple with a 24 fret ebony wood finger board with dot inlays. The wild looking finish on this one is all 80's for sure and sort of a punk rockin neon dayglo, but I believe the actual Carvin custom finish is named "Pastel Splash". The humbuckers are Carvin's M22 in the neck and M22SD in the bridge, with dual volume knobs and one tone knob that are metal. There is also a coil split option with two mini toggles and a 3 way pup switch. This V 220 has the vintage 80's Kahler PRO locking tremolo as a factory install, and the hardware including the Schaller Mini Tuners was an upgrade from chrome to gold. These Carvin V 220 guitars were excellent high quality USA built, yet very affordable guitars from Carvin in the mid/late 80's era. I remember seeing a few guitar players in bands on M-TV back in the mid/late80's with the Carvin V 220 guitars. This Carvin V 220 is a pretty heavy guitar for sure, and with the hard rock maple construction the sustain is excellent. The 24 frets are easily accessible on this guitar and are in very nice condition, showing very light wear probably 95%+ fret life still. The guitar does not show much belt buckle rash at all but there are some significant signs of past usage and some wear and tear, and quite a few dings/dents and chips pictured on many areas of the guitar. The most obvious dings are a sizable chip to the paint finish to the lower horn of the body of the guitar, and 3 more chips in the paint near the input jack on the lower horn. There is also some pictured small paint finish dings on the side of the headstock and the top and back of headstock near the high E tuner, and there is a small crack also in the neck pickup black plastic ring around the pickup. There is also a couple pictured noticeable dings/paint chips to the back of the upper and lower horn areas on the body of the guitar. There is some pictured very slight playwear or aging to the clear coat finish on the top and bottom of the fretboard, mostly seen near the upper frets in the ebony wood fretboard. There is much signs all over this vintage 80's guitar of the clear coat finish with crazing or finish cracks, and these are just cosmetic surface cracks to the finish only and do not affect playabilty. Overall this is a fair to better described good/decent condition vintage mid 80's axe, that has been around the block and then some. The guitar was set up with nice low action and neck relief and intonation and electronics checked some time back, and it is still 30+ years on an absolute killer player. Carvin probably never was or is to say Gibson quality or Gibson cost either, but still these were pretty damn nice USA built guitars for the $, and again this V220 is a vintage mid 80's axe that still plays really great. As this guitar has been sitting around in the HSC for quite a few years that I have owned it, new owner will most likely want an updated setup and new strings for this guitar. Also the original Carvin HSC is in fair condition but it does show some definite wear and tear on it, including some cracked wood in one area of the case. This vintage mid 80's Carvin V 220 guitar will be well securely packed in its original HSC with pack paper, and shipped in a sturdy U-line guitar box with bubble wrap. Shipping a bit more because the guitar is really heavy, via Fed-Ex Ground insured for the declared value signature delivery required by Fed Ex.
