Skjold NOS BC-4/5 2010 Black Sidewinder pickup set made by SGD

This is a NOS OEM item, built for Skjold Guitars by SGD Lutherie in 2010.

These are noise canceling single coils, known as “sidewinders” due to the coils laying on their sides. They sense the string from a central blade, and sound like true single coils without the noise. The are labeled "Dual Coil" on the back, but are not the usual humbuckers. This style pickup ended up not being used and was replaced with the standard SC-1 model. So these could be thought of as prototypes.

They are fully shielded, and come with 4-conductor cables. They are in the Bartolini BC size covers (3.95″ / 100.33 mm long and 1.26″ / 32.00 mm wide), with three mounting holes.

Note: these are medium to low output pickups, but they have a wide dynamic range and an extended treble response, while maintaining a solid low end. They work great with preamps.

They read:

6.64k neck.

8.62k bridge.

They use ceramic magnets.

They are 4 string pickups with a blade, so they can work with very narrow 5 strings. Total string width is about 76mm (2.9”) over the pickup.

Cables are approximately 9" long.
