If you are looking at this pedal, you likely know what it is, and have an understanding of its solid construction and unparalleled variety of amp-like drive and distortion options from Classic Rock through Modern Metal. What makes this particular unit notable is that it is one of the handful of rare "transition" pedals among those few gray Okko Dominators ever created.
Full Details:
The Dominator Mk 1 debuted in the first few months of 2011 as a Gray box unit housing a green "gooped" PCB, (which also made it difficult if not unlikely to repair in some cases). The Mk 1.5 featured an upgraded red PCB free of goop, and the box color changed from Gray to Red, marking the 1.5 version difference, which has been the pedal's design standard thereafter.
Heiko from Okko has confirmed production numbers of around 100 Gray Box Dominators in total, regardless of what PCB was installed (they have no records of PCB/production). Thus, any gray box Dominator unit is a rarity in its own right.
However, this particular unit is considered especially rare and unique in that it was one of the few and final leftover original Gray box units that was used to debut the Mk 1.5 red PCB in 2011 before the new red boxes came in, making this an exceptionally limited item (maybe one of 50, maybe one of 20, ???), thus, one of the rarest Dominator units in existence. As such, this unit features the best of both worlds: the rarest original and arguably best looking housing color; and the updated goop-free PCB.
This unit is in Exc. to Mint condition. Velcro was carefully applied to the back-plate to avoid covering the OKKO label and Serial/Build Code. This is the perfect pedal for collectors, or for those who want the dirt options of the amazing and surprisingly-versatile Dominator in a color other than red.
