Own a custom built singlecut fretless bass for a fraction of the price! Also accepting reasonable trade offers...
This was an early prototype for my current line of Singlecut basses, and has been one of my main stage basses over the past 5 years. New, this bass would sell for well over $3000, but as this bass is used, I will sell it for $850 OBO. That's 75% less than a new one would cost.
I will also consider partial trades for decent tube combo amps, boutique effects and guitars or basses of equivalent value (see more info at the end of this ad).
Here's the details:
Highly figured solid Black Limba body finished in oil/wax
Set in bubinga neck with walnut accent lines and cocobolo headstock veneers (front and back)
Dual action truss rod along with two graphite neck reinforcement rods
34" scale gaboon ebony fingerboard with birch veneer position lines and glow-in-the-dark side markers (they look white in the light, but glow aqua blue in low light/darkness).
Nut width is approximately 1.5", similar to Fender Jazz Bass spacing.
Pickups are Nordstrand Big Singles, essentially overwound soapbar-sized
Jazz Bass single coils. They are RW/RP, so when used
together the pickups are hum canceling.
Passive volume, blend and tone controls. The pickup covers are bloodwood and are topped by the same black limba used in the body.
Sound-wise, this has the phat and funky tone of a Jazz bass, but with a
nice round "mwah" fretless tone. Think Jaco Pastorius on steroids.
Video demo available upon request.
This instrument is in very good condition. There are some minor pick marks, scratches, etc., but nothing that affects playability. It's exactly as it appears in the pictures. I can send more pictures upon request. This bass plays very well and sounds great, but because it has seen 6 years or so of heavy use, it carries no warranty.
I will consider reasonable offers, and will also consider partial or full trades. I'm mostly interested in tube guitar amplifiers, Gibson or Fender or boutique electrics, with a special interest in semi-hollow or hollowbody guitars, and higher end effects pedals, including Strymon, Eventide, JHS, Keeley, etc.
