This is an Iris DF that sounds like a grand piano. It’s loud, clear and punchy, with a deep low end, and every note in a chord stays defined. I purchased this new from Tom at Telluride Music Co. he had this spec'd out perfectly with ALL the upgrades.

The DF is Iris’s slope-shouldered dreadnought, modeled on the famous Kalamazoo-built guitars of the 1930s. This one has the upgrades that make it special: a 12-fret neck, a slotted headstock, and the deep body option. Iris only offers the deep body on the DF and MS-00. Moving the bridge toward the center of the lower bout with the 12-fret design, then adding the extra body depth, gives this guitar a huge, warm voice. It projects like a cannon without getting muddy. It works for a flatpicker who needs to cut through a jam, and it fills a room when you’re fingerpicking or singing behind it.

Every Iris is built by hand in Burlington, Vermont, by the same crew behind Fairbanks Guitars and Circle Strings. Their approach is simple: keep the appointments minimal and put the money into tonewood, bracing and build quality. The result plays and sounds like guitars costing far more.
