Rare Gibson Custom Adam Jones 1979 Les Paul Custom Silverburst Hardshell Case – USA TKL

Offered here is an authentic Gibson Custom Adam Jones 1979 Les Paul Custom hardshell case, manufactured in the USA by TKL for Gibson’s highly collectible Adam Jones 1979 Les Paul Custom series.

This is the distinctive factory Silverburst case with Adam Jones artwork that accompanied the Gibson Custom Shop recreation of Adam Jones’ legendary 1979 Silverburst Les Paul Custom.

This is not a generic Gibson Les Paul case and is not the standard modern hardshell case supplied with the later Gibson USA Adam Jones Les Paul Standard.

The case features the unmistakable custom “Adam Jones 1979 / Gibson Custom” artwork across the lid along with a Silverburst-style exterior designed to visually complement the guitar itself.

The original TKL USA quality card remains inside the case and is dated 11/5/20. The Gibson Custom authenticity-information tag also remains attached to the case.

I originally purchased this case separately with the intention of eventually acquiring an Adam Jones Les Paul to pair with it, but that guitar purchase never happened. As a result, the case was never used by me to transport or gig a guitar and has primarily remained in storage.

Condition

I am listing the case as Very Good due to cosmetic wear on the exterior.

The distinctive Silverburst outer finish shows a number of scuffs, rub marks and small areas of cosmetic abrasion, particularly around the ends and edges. These are shown clearly and intentionally in the detailed photographs.

The wear gives the case something of a road-worn / aged appearance that actually suits the Adam Jones aesthetic extremely well, but I want to be completely transparent that the exterior is not cosmetically pristine.

Structurally, however, the case remains excellent:

• All latches operate properly
• Hinges operate correctly
• Handle is secure and functional
• No rust
• Interior is exceptionally clean
• No tears, holes or significant interior damage
• No unpleasant odors
• Neck support and interior padding remain intact
• Original TKL USA inspection card present
• Gibson Custom authenticity-information tag present

Authenticity / model association

Gibson identifies this design as the Custom Silverburst Case with Adam Jones Artwork supplied with the Gibson Custom Adam Jones 1979 Les Paul Custom. Gibson’s original model also included a replica headstock mirror and Certificate of Authenticity with the guitar; those guitar-specific accessories are not included with this case.

A very cool and increasingly difficult-to-find piece for an Adam Jones collector, someone who owns one of the Custom Shop guitars without its original case, or any Les Paul owner who wants one of Gibson’s most distinctive artist-series cases.
