From Roswell:
The "Cab Mic" is a microphone designed expressly for capturing fantastic tone from electric guitar cabs.
Testimonials
"Is the Cab Mic going to become a permanent part of my toolkit for guitar tone? OMG yes. This thing is awesome. It does a fantastic job of capturing the natural vibe and mojo of the amp, without getting harsh. It blends into tracks incredibly well without any processing."
- Ronan Chris Murphy (Producer/Engineer for Steve Morse, Gwar, King Crimson, Bozzio Levin Stevens, etc)
"The Roswell Cab Mic has become one of my go-to mics for electric guitar."
- David Grissom (Edgar Winter, John Mellencamp, Allman Brothers Band, Dixie Chicks, Chris Isaak, Robben Ford)
"The Roswell Cab Mic sounds clear, open, and uncompressed. It sounds musical with any amount of gain, distortion, or overdrive. To me, it sounds like you're standing in front of the amp."
- Tim Pierce (1000+ song credits including Rod Stewart, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Phil Collins, Madonna, Santana, Rascal Flatts, Celine Dion, Goo Goo Dolls)
"Just finished up a four-day session with Charlie Hunter playing and producing. Used the Cab mic on his guitar and it is a thing of voodoo!! The guitar is so smooth."
- Benjy Johnson (Engineer for Charlie Hunter and Eric Gales)
What is it?
The Cab Mic is a large-diaphragm condenser that is voiced like a ribbon. It captures the clarity of a condenser, the impact of a dynamic, and the low frequency warmth of a ribbon mic. This is not an all-pupose, do-anything mic; if you need a mic that will work on many sources, see the Mini K87 or Delphos II. The Cab Mic was optimized for guitar cab, and captures the sound of guitar cabs fantastically well.
The Cab Mic is soldered, wired, assembled, tested and tuned in California. We relied on feedback from numerous artists and engineers while iteratively refining the mic's sound. The mic's capsule is a custom creation; it is a large-diaphragm (34mm) type with a unique tuning and voicing. The mic's circuit delivers a flat frequency response through the critical midrange frequencies, controlled proximity effect, a soft top end to eliminate harshness, huge headroom, and minimal distortion, without clipping the downstream preamp. The combination of these elements creates a new approach to recording electric guitar, while solving many of the challenges of that process.
Why have so many artists already adopted the Cab Mic?
Because it's super easy to use, and it sounds great. You don't need two mics, two stands, two preamps. You don't need to spend time on your hands and knees making micro-adjustments to the mic position. You don't need to endlessly tweak EQ settings in your DAW. You don't need to worry about phase problems (comb filtering) between multiple mics. Just park the Cab Mic in the center of the speaker (yes, dead center), move it 6 inches back from the grille, and record. It's simple, fast, and extremely effective.
What's in the box?
The Cab Mic includes a heavy duty swivel mount and a microfleece storage pouch.
