Fender Telecaster 1968 Prototype Museum piece
Fender Telecaster 1968 Prototype Museum piece ......Fender Telecaster 1968 Tilt Neck PROTOTYPE a Fender factory R&D Guitar .......This is an all original blonde finish 1968 tele with one of the first if not the first tilt neck 3 bolt neck adjustment set ups. Fender did not start using this until 1971. Look at the pics you can see this setup is similar but completely different parts as they ended up using in production in 1971. The neck and body was drilled and fitted for this hardware before the factory finish in 1968. No serial number on the neck plate so it was never meant to be sold but was probably giving to a player to try out this new setup. Other than the tilt neck setup this guitar is mostly stock other than a wide low refret and a brass nut and larger truss rod notch on pickguard I dont know who did this or when it was done. The guitar shows years of playwear and age also plays and sounds great and is lightweight at 7 pounds. Look at the pics it tells the story this guitar Leo Fender would have had his hands on. Leo Fender filed for patent in 1968 and it was granted in 1970 according to google.
