Inward Connections Magnum VU 500 Series Mic Preamp Module MINT!

Up for sale is an Inward Connections Magnum VU 500 Series discrete microphone preamp, designed and built by legendary Los Angeles pro-audio designer Steve Firlotte, the man behind Inward Connections and Tree Audio.

If you know Inward Connections gear, you know what these are about: serious analog design, exceptional components, heavy-duty construction, and great sound. The Magnum VU is a full-featured discrete mic preamp in the 500 Series format with its own built-in LED bar-graph VU meter, making it both an excellent recording tool and a very cool-looking addition to a 500 Series rack.

This is not a sterile, generic preamp. The Magnum has the kind of big, dimensional analog sound that Inward Connections equipment is known for, while still being versatile enough to use across a wide range of sources. Vocals, drums, bass, guitars, keyboards—you name it. It's the type of preamp that can live at the front end of a serious recording chain.

One of my favorite things about the Magnum VU is simply how much of a complete channel front end Steve managed to put into a single 500 Series slot. The onboard bar-graph metering is particularly useful for keeping an eye on levels and gives you immediate visual feedback right at the module.

Like so much of Steve Firlotte's equipment, the Magnum is extremely well built and designed for professional studio use. Inward Connections developed a reputation for making some of the finest boutique analog equipment available, and these modules are a great example of that philosophy.

With Inward Connections no longer in business, these are becoming increasingly difficult to find. There aren't new ones coming off a production line, and clean examples of Steve Firlotte's Inward Connections designs are becoming increasingly desirable among people who know this gear.

I purchased this unit directly from Steve Firlotte at his shop in Los Angeles, so its history and provenance are known from day one. This particular module is essentially new and has less than 10 hours of actual use. I own several Magnum VU preamps, and while my other units have been used regularly, this one simply never made it into my normal recording rotation. It has spent virtually its entire life unused, making this an unusually clean, extremely low-hour example.

Everything is fully functional and sounds excellent. Please take a close look at the photos for its exact cosmetic condition.

I'm selling simply because I'm downsizing my studio. I have accumulated a large amount of high-end analog outboard equipment over the years and, since I already have several other Magnum VUs that I use, there's no reason for this one to continue sitting unused. Otherwise, this is exactly the kind of piece I would keep.

I have a perfect Reverb rating as both a buyer and seller and take very good care of my equipment. I do my best to describe everything accurately, and this module will be carefully and professionally packed for safe shipping.
