The Taylor AB-1 is one of the most unusual instruments Taylor ever produced. It was developed with help of Steve Klein, intended to get much closer to the tonal character and physical response of an upright bass while remaining playable like a fretted electric/acoustic bass. Indeed this is one of the best basses I've played and I played a few good ones including Tacoma Thunderchief and Earthwood bass.
The bass would be listed as Excellent condition if it wasn't for some impact damage sustained at the edge of top and sides at the lower bout. The damage is completely fixed and touched up to the point that if you move your finger across the crack you can't even feel it. Everything is fixed professionally and perfect from the stability and function stand point . However the scars are there and I am showing them for the full description. Other than that there are just a few minor dings here and there not worth mentioning.
Top - Sitka spruce
Back - Imbuia
Sides - Imbuia
Neck - Mahogany
Fretboard - Ebony
Bridge - Imbuia
Saddle - Phenolic
Nut - Ebony
The instrument was just set up with a low strings height of about 6/64 at 12th fret and healthy relief of about .010. Frets show pretty much no wear. Tuners work as they should. Electronics are in fine working condition. The bass comes with an original Taylor gig-bag in very good condition. Zipper works fine, handles lock together with a Velcro cover. Feel free to ask any questions before you purchase it.
Thank you!
* It may take me a few extra days to ship as this bass requires a custom shipping box!
