This is a 'Project' Vintage 1964 Kay 703-C All-Tube Guitar Combo Amplifier. Used. Needs some work! Serial #19492. 'Two-tone' cabinet is worn but still looks very cool! Original covering, grill cloth and handle.
Specs: 3-4 watt output (?). All 'Point-to-Point' wiring. 6" CTS 'Branded' Speaker. CTS 'pots' dated '1964'. Tubes are (1) 18GD6A, (1) 60FX5 and (1) 36AM3. I had the tubes tested and all tubes seem to be in 'spec'. Pots have been cleaned. Back cabinet 'cover' is homemade. Has original 110 Volt AC two-prong cord (should be replaced with a Grounded three-pronged cord!!)
Problems: After amp is warmed up, there is a very pronounced AC 60-Cycle hum that is NOT affected by the 'Tone' or 'Volume' controls. It is always there! I can play a guitar thru all of the 1/4" input jacks and the 'distortion' output, when all 'controls' are turned up as high as they will go, thru the speaker is 'creamy', but the output is also affected by the 60-cycle hum.
This Kay 703-C Amplifier is sold as-is, no returns....as a 'Project' amplifier. This has a simple circuit to follow if you are an electronics tech! The original Schematic is still on the inside of the cabinet (see photos).
Cabinet Measurements: 14 3/4" in Width by 11 3/4" Tall by 6 5/8" Deep.
Please ask all questions BEFORE you buy!
This Kay Amplifier will be shipped via USPS Parcel Select Insured. I will remove the vintage vacuum tubes and package them in a separate padded box with the amplifier for safe shipping!
Thanks!
