Offered for sale is a Rupert Neve Designs 511, one of the most versatile microphone preamps available in the 500-series format. Designed by Rupert Neve himself, the 511 combines the clarity and detail of the modern Portico preamp architecture with the renowned Silk / Texture circuit, allowing the engineer to introduce anything from subtle harmonic enhancement to rich analogue colour.

This module has been used exclusively in a professional smoke-free recording studio and remains in excellent cosmetic and technical condition.

Clean When You Need It, Character When You Want It

Built around a fully discrete Class-A signal path, the 511 provides up to 66 dB of microphone gain, complemented by a ±6 dB trim control for precise level adjustment. The result is a preamp equally comfortable with ribbon microphones, dynamics and premium condenser microphones.

Its defining feature is Rupert Neve Designs' Red Silk / Texture circuit, derived directly from the flagship Portico II Channel. Rather than acting as a conventional saturation effect, Silk alters the feedback around the output transformer, gradually introducing harmonically rich analogue colour while preserving the integrity of the original performance. From pristine transparency to unmistakable vintage warmth, the amount of character is entirely under your control.
