1980s USA-made Peavey Butcher. This is the original single-channel, 120-watt model with high- and low-gain inputs.
The amp was extensively serviced in December 2024. The work included:
- Aging power-supply capacitors replaced
- Broken solder joint/connection at an internal connector repaired
- Questionable solder joints reflowed throughout the amp
- Hum-balance ground-reference capacitor replaced
- Pots, jacks, switches and tube sockets cleaned
- Fully inspected and tested at 120 watts
All the tubes passed testing, but the technician suggested replacing the power tubes within a year of the service. I haven’t replaced them, but I’ve also barely used the amp since then, only occasionally at home through an attenuator. It still works and sounds decent.
It has normal wear for a roughly 40-year-old amp, particularly around the corners. A copy of the repair order outlining the complete work can be provided.
