Zildjian K Istanbul Type 1 - 13" hi hat single - 1940's Paper Thin at 474 gm

Zildjian 13" K Istanbul Type 1 cymbal 1940's. 7/16" bell hole. Measures from 13.0" to 13-1/16". Weight 474 gm paper thin. No flea bites. Don't see a signature under the bell. There are numerous bell hole cracks and visible warping. Cymbal sits fairly flat on a table top but the edge views show the warped lobes. None of this effects the sound really. Most early paper thins will show some warping whether from mfg, playing, or aging. Lovely sounding hi hat or splash crash. Most of the brilliance on the top side is gone and what's left is well hidden under deep patina. The reverse side has essentially full original brilliance. They don't come much thinner than this one.

I counted 10 bell hole cracks using a 15X magnifier. 4 of them are significant and the other 6 not easily visible without magnification. I can't guarantee how many total cracks there might be....and everyone would count or report these differently. Could be more than 10 if higher magnification is applied. Largest crack is 5-6 mm long. The other easily visible ones are 2-4 mm. Several are 1 mm or less. Photos are pretty self explanatory. One of the cracks shows a sleight height separation on each side. My magnified photos make the bell hole area look a lot worse than it is. The cymbal is still very solid. All the cracks could be welded solid again by several of the cymbal smiths and repair shops out there. One of them advertises right here on Reverb and pricing for bell hole cracks is very reasonable.
