Avid’s professional 1U audio interface designed specifically for deep integration with Pro Tools. Carbon combines high-quality analog I/O with 8 onboard HDX DSP processors, allowing plugins to run through the hardware for extremely low-latency monitoring and recording. It provides 25 x 34 simultaneous I/O, 8 premium mic/line preamps, 8 channels of DB-25 line I/O, ADAT expansion, 2 instrument inputs, 2 monitor outputs, and 4 stereo headphone outputs. It supports up to 32-bit/192 kHz operation.
Carbon connects directly to a Mac via Ethernet using Avid’s AVB implementation and can be expanded with up to two Carbon Pre units. It’s an excellent centerpiece for a professional Pro Tools recording setup, particularly for tracking vocals, drums, bands, and overdubs where low-latency monitoring is important.
