Pearl's 14" x 8" Task-Specific Free Floating African Mahogany Snare Drum is seriously deep and warm, and man is it powerful. Take a look if you want something that sounds like a modernized, drum set-ified field drum.
Free Floating lugs do not touch the 8-ply shell at all, letting it ring as much as it possibly can. Wooden shells can get choked off with too much equipment, but that's not the case here. Die-cast hoops keep your tuning true even after thousands of rimshots, and you can crank the drum sky high.
Pearl has included the SR-160F Click-Lock Snare Strainer, which locks the lever and tension adjuster wherever you want it. The drum also comes fitted with a Remo Coated Ambassador batter head.
The ultimate in throaty, deep snare growl. Thick 10mm shell shortens decay and increases volume.
