1941 Martin D-28 Herringbone Acoustic Guitar - Needs Work

This is a true pre-war 1941 Martin D-28 that I purchased directly from the family of the original owner. Unfortunately, the guitar has seen a lot of DIY “repairs” over the years and will require a full restoration. From 10 feet away it looks great, but the closer you look, the more issues you’ll see. I’ll do my best to describe them here:

Known Issues:

• The guitar has been sanded and refinished (possibly the entire body, but at least the top and neck).
• The top has several cracks; I don’t see cracks on the back or sides.
• The neck has been refinished and possibly slimmed down. The logo area on the headstock shows obvious tape/stain work.
• Needs a neck reset and refret.
• The bridge is a poor replacement and currently broken.
• Braces have been re-glued sloppily.
• Large patches are present on the underside of the top.
• Tuners are replacements; the original case is gone. It will ship in a protective case (not original).
• I’m sure there are additional issues beyond what I’ve listed.

The Good News:

• It’s a 1941 Martin D-28!!
