【About This item and Sound】
Although ELK Maverick guitar is over 50 years old, the original pickups, circuitry, pickguard, and even the control knobs are still present. The body is a solid acoustic construction, called “ソリアコ/ SORIAKO” in Japan at that time, with a 1.5 cm space between the top and back. This is the reason for the unique sound. In addition, Japanese-made electric guitars at that time had a detachable neck. However, the ELK Maverick surprised the Japanese musical instrument industry by adopting a set neck!
The rear pickup is Japan's first humbucker pickup, with a structure that allows the internal coil to show through. It produces a powerful sound. The front pickup is a covered pickup that also has a clear sound in the front position. It has an acoustic sound that matches the body construction.
The frets are wide and low Gibson type. It is built with the “Fretless Wonder” in mind. (Please check the height, in the photo.)

ELK Maverick undoubtedly laid the foundation for the Japanese-made Les Paul replica guitar. It is no exaggeration to say that this guitar became the foundation for the high quality of later Greco, TOKAI, and others.

【 About ELK 】
ELK is a Japanese guitar manufacturer founded in 1963 by a former musician. At that time, many Japanese guitar makers did not know how to properly set up a truss rod yet, and it was still a matter of trial and error. Under such circumstances, ELK had the belief that "we definitely want to establish professional-oriented guitars in Japan and build guitars in Japan with the same quality as those made in the U.S." They dissected the Fender Jaguar, which was quite expensive in the 1960s, using it as a testbed. He split the neck in half, learned how to install a truss rod, and thoroughly examined the pickups. There is also an anecdote that he brought the wood used in Fender Jaguar to various workshops to have it examined.

All products, including guitars, basses, and amplifiers, are of high quality and used by many professional musicians.

Overall condition as an instrument is very good.
There are some traces of past usage and aging, including dents.
