D'Angelico's New Yorker occupies a prominent place in the jazz world. The model was handmade by John D'Angelico himself for over 40 years. After his death, the guitars were built under license by other manufacturers, including the Vestax factory in Tokyo, Japan. Production was led by the legendary Hidesato Shiino, who managed to produce highly regarded copies of the New Yorker with his eye for quality.
With its flamed maple body and spruce top, the New Yorker is a guitar with a beautiful, round tone. With the mini humbucker in the neck position, the guitar also comes out well amplified. Due to the slim neck with C-profile, the guitar is also easy to play.
This 2000 New Yorker is in excellent condition. The top has two small dings in the lacquer, and a small lacquer chip can be seen at the binding. The pickguard has two small cracks, and on the end of the neck there are four screw holes where a replacement neck element was once attached. The guitar is very clean and comes in a case.
