1983 Hamer Phantom USA Glenn Tipton, Steve Stevens, Andy Summers

Steve Stevens was my favorite guitar player when I was a kid. Steve used this model a great deal before they designed his signature model. This is a fantastic guitar. The triple humbucker is a radical design. Paul Reed Smith is the only other company I am aware of that used this pickup design. The harmonics really jump off this guitar. I can see why Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest has used this guitar for decades as well. I have owned several Hamer guitars from the 80's. One thing they all seem to have in common are the finish issues. I have tried very hard to show the flaws in the finish in the photographs. Please look at all the photos carefully. I believe the most significant issues are where the guitar sat in a string swing. Obviously, the original owner retouched these areas with white paint. All these areas that have been touched up could be made to look a lot better for very little money. I will leave that up to the next owner. The finish issues at the neck joint are nothing more than that. There are no problems with the neck joint physically what so ever. The original owner had the tremelo blocked with two pieces of wood. I have owned many guitars with blocked trems, but whoever did this work is an amazing crafstman. These two blocks of wood aren't even screwed into the cavitity. They perfectly fit between both sides of the trem block. They can be removed in seconds, should you choose to track down an arm for this guitar & do a little dive bombing. This is a great guitar. I feel that Hamer made some of the finest solid body guitars of this era. This one is no exception. Other than the trem block & missing whammy bar, this guitar is totally original w/ no repairs.
