a full illustrated manual of the console from which the preamp was pulled, in ENGLISH, that also contains a high-resoultion scan of a famous LOMO 9U-06 nuvistor compressor.
Today we offer a wonderful LOMO microphone preamplifier, that was a part of a medium-size portable 4-channel preliminary sound-recording console, used at the major Soviet movie studios.
Designed at the turn of 60es, when tube gear was still widely used, hybrid schematic (nuvistor/transistors) was an ingenious compromise solution to match older tube equipment, that was gradually deduced from use, with newer transistor examples, coming to replace it.
It makes this preamp virtually universal and highly effective with any type of mics- tube, dynamic, and even ribbon, and nuvistor itself (originally intended for use in Space applications) adds that desirable tube signature, yet remains extremely stable within any period of continuous operation.
Unlike many other LOMO preamps, designed for numerous purposes, e.g. UP-27, that was originally a projector magnetic heads preamp, installed in the movie-theaters, and that can`t be used at a sound recording studio without a serious adaptation, 3U-06 is a dedicated microphone preamplifier, intended for use with the whole line of Soviet (and Western) microphones of analogue golden era, that will add a very special touch to your records.

The level control fader (6 KOhm) represents a load for the amplifier.
PLEASE NOTE, that frequency range of 30-16000, stated by factory, arises from the 35 mm perforated magnetic tape recorder specs, used as a main recording device in original complex.
We`ve done a tremendous work on this fantastic device, replacing all parts, tending to be faulty with carefully selected NOS Russian military caps, pots, etc., including nuvistor, one by one, using original factory specs and part list, to ensure years of trouble-free continuous use.
One might notice that we use plain and humble looking aluminium electrolytic capacitors of modern Russian make for replacement, there is a rational reason for that: everybody knows that popular brands like Nichicon, Elna, Kemet, Philips BC etc., were heavily discredited through past years, and there is always a risk to buy counterfeit even at an authorized dealer, but Russian factories still produce very good capacitors for military use, they provide all papers,specs, etc., and buying them is a kind of warranty against fake, because chinese haven`t turned to Russian caps yet.
Modular construction allowed us to find and install less used faders, that had been pulled from a larger console, as well as the premium LOMO output transformers, thus making it a completely independent balanced device, suitable for any decent modern studio, and added 48v phantom power for convenience. Custom ~110/220 power supply exceeds the factory requirements, making original signal/noise ratio, mentioned above ~10% better. The result is a fantastic, unique sounding modern device, that would give you years of working pleasure.
