Beautiful old archtop guitar, made by Fasan in the late 1950s in West Germany.

This one is one of the higher grade models, it doesn't have a zero fret, and the top is solid spruce. (laminated back and sides, three piece maple neck)

It is a beautiful and cool archtop, ideal for many kinds of music (though it was constructed mainly for dance music rhythm).

As all archtops of that era, the guitar has a cutting wooden tone, really suited well for cutting through the mix of an ensemble. It`s more twangy and percussive than mellow.

String action is at some 2,8 mm on the 12th fret high E.

The neck is awesomely straight, it has no bow at all.

As you can see, the guitar has been repaired previously in some places - there were to cracks in the top and a crack at the lower bout. The tiny fissures you can see on the back of the head are just lacquer cracks.

The frets are worn and a bit uneven; as the guitar is set up now, there is no buzz except for the hitting the G on the 3rd fret low E string (really hard, then it buzzes).

New 11 gauge strings (steel bronze, Pyramid - made in Germany) are attached.

 The original pickguard is missing.

Overall, due to the cosmetic flaws and worn frets, I sell this for much less than I would usually charge for such a high grade German archtop.

640 mm scale

4,2 cm nut
41 cm width
8,5 cm depth

I polished the frets, oiled the fretboard and the tuners, and put on new 11 gauge strings. The guitar comes un-tuned in a sturdy cardboard box with absolutely save filling, and is playable immediately after tuning it up.
