The Sound Canvas SC-7 is the "Computer Music" version of the Roland Sound Canvas SC-55. Released in 1992, the SC-7 is a General MIDI compliant Roland synth module produced to give computer games great music options.

The Roland SC-7 (“SC” stands for “Sound Canvas”) is a computer music and gaming version of the Roland Sound Canvas SC-55. The SC-7 works very well for General MIDI games (not Roland GS) from the later half of the 1990s. The Roland SCB-7 card was the Sound Blaster / Wave Blaster daughter card version of the Roland SC-7 module.
Connection to a computer is via RS232 connector (not included), and the Mac computer does not require any drivers… just connect it to a serial port (or to USB via Serial to USB converter (not included) and it will work fine.
PCs will require a driver, and I've seen many drivers available for download on the web. I've seen drivers for everything up to Windows XP but not 7,8, or 10. They may exist, but I didn't really spend much time looking. You don't really need these drivers to use the unit: just power it on and send it a MIDI sequence and it will work. Program changes will change the sounds, and if you are playing full GM sequences, those program changes will be embedded in the files. So this little unit is a great MIDI File Player!...: )...
