This amazing instrument didn't leave the factory looking quite like this; originally, it was an EG600P (Peter Frampton model). However, this particular guitar was the perfect candidate to be transformed into a 'Black Beauty'! All the hardware has been replaced with Gotoh components: bridge, tailpiece, tuners, and humbucker covers.
The neck and middle positions feature the original Maxon U1000 pickups identical to the Ibanez Super 70s. The bridge pickup has been upgraded for a bit more output: a Seymour Duncan SH12 George Lynch Screamin' Demon. The guitar is now incredibly versatile, offering PAF style tones in the neck and middle positions and a medium output (10k) sound at the bridge.
Additionally, the potentiometers have been upgraded to CTS units, and a Switchcraft switch has been installed. All in all, it’s a fantastic project featuring high end components and superb pickups. The result is a stunning Black Beauty weighing in at just 3.8 kg!
The frets have been perfectly leveled and show no signs of wear; the guitar has a comfortable, low action. The body does show some signs of use and scratches.
It’s a versatile rock machine with an ideal weight, endless sustain, and a truly delightful neck that has developed a nice patina. In fact, this guitar is turning 50 years old in just two years!
We are a shop, so you are welcome to come and play the instrument by appointment. Shipping is always an option, as is a trade in at trade in value. All guitars come with a 3 month warranty covering hidden flaws or technical defects (excluding normal wear and tear).
