About this listing
A 1979 Player Stingray has arrived!! The Music Man Stingray is an electric bass introduced by Music Man in 1976. It was developed by Forrest White and Tom Walker?who left Fender in 1971?along with Leo Fender and Sterling Ball, and released by Music Man in 1976. The unit wefve just received features a one-piece maple neck with a micro-tilt and a three-point joint, a neck date of gFEB 7 1979,h and a body date that is unclear due to a label covering the neck pocket. The electronics?pickups, EQ, and pots?are original (VOL.R1377841, TRE.R1377841; the BASS pot is soldered and cannot be read), with only the jack having been replaced. While it shows signs of wear and scratches commensurate with its age, the trebly attack and crisp sustain characteristic of a Player-era Stingray are absolutely fantastic!! Over-lacquer is visible on the body and neck overall. The areas around the pickups and inside the control cutouts have been treated for conductivity. There are marks where the neck was hung. There is a hole in the pickguard for a thumb rest. The nut and frets have been replaced. There are dents, playwear, and tarnish or rust on the metal parts, all consistent with its age. One of the pickguard screws has been replaced.
