Jean Larrivee started crafting guitars in Toronto. The company moved to Vancouver in the '80s and opened a second factory in California in 2001. The Larrivee D-03 uses a dreadnought body style. Guitars with an 03 designation use Sapele back and sides (though the D-03R is also made which uses Rosewood).
