With NAMM 2020 just around the corner, the gear world is heating up with product announcements and brand-new releases. Today, Alexander Pedals is joining the mix with the release of its Super Neo-Matic—a modern take on an old Pefftronics circuit.
If you've never played around with a Pefftronics Rand-O-Matic, you're probably not alone.
The circuit was very odd and interesting, capable of producing warbled, chorus-like vibrato and flanged sounds. But it wasn't without its flaws, like severe sound degenerations at higher levels.
After Matthew from Alexander Pedals picked up one of these old pedals on Reverb and refurbished it, he was inspired to remake his own more modern and usable Alexander Pedals version of the circuit. The result is the Super Neo-Matic, and it's available today.
Like the Rand-O-Matic, this new Neo-series pedal allows players to create warbled, weird, and out of this world tones, even when pushing the levels.
It features a suite of parameter controls, like rate (range), depth (ramp rate), mix (level), and inverted or normal feedback. Players can also press a center button for switching the character of the sound from "vintage" to "modern" and vice versa.
Check out the video above for a closer look at the pedal, and if you like what you see, pre-order your own on Reverb. Explore all used and new Alexander Pedals on Reverb here.
