For sale on behalf of a friend - his description is below:

This was purchased new by my friend a short time before he sadly passed away. I'm a Double Bass player and could never manage the short scale length so this is practically unplayed and therefore is in incredible condition.

The DGM1 was a limited run collaboration between bluegrass great David Grisman and Eastman strings. It's a reproduction of David's Giacomel mandolin (without the hefty price tag). The shape is a Dali-esque take on a Gibson F model.

Each one was individually built by Eastman's experienced luthiers using highest grade, specially selected timbers and the finest materials.

Top and back are hand carved and tap tuned using traditional methods and the detail work is excellent (as evident in the photos).

It has a loud, bright tone that cuts through well and it plays perfectly with good action, intonation and no choking / buzzing. As a practically new mandolin, the wood still hasn't 'opened up' and so it's voice will only get better with playing.

There are a couple of very small marks which can just about be made out in the photos. One on the scroll and one on the top. There's a faint mark on the side where the strap was against the nitro cellulose paint in the case and has stained it very slightly.

Included is the Eastman case, custom fitted to this mandolin. It's a top quality violin style case (high density foam inner protection, with hard outer casing).
