Up for sale is a 1982-83 burny rlc-60, which is regarded as one of the best lawsuit copies ever made. This guitar is every bit the quality of a Gibson.
Dimensionally compared to a Gibson, this thing is identical. This is also the early version that had the Gibson style split diamond inlay and two screw truss rod cover. It has the same type truss rod cavity/nut, it has the headstock binding that lines up with the string nut, it even has the fret edge binding like the real deal. These things are often not present on even the best of the lawsuit copies. I've owned just about every brand of lawsuit les paul there is at one time or another and this one blows them all away.
The neck is solid one piece mahogany, and the body is all mahogany with no maple cap. The fretboard is dyed rosewood. It appears to be ebony, but you can see grain in it that indicates it is actually rosewood.
Pickups are the original burny L8000 series ceramics. They absolutely scream when overdriven, but they are the only thing I'd actually change if I were keeping this guitar (which is really hard not to do)
Gold hardware including the gotoh tuners is all original and shows minor age fading, but is all in excellent working order.
Hows it play? Awesome. It has a slimmer neck. Similar to Gibson's slim taper style. its a fast comfortable neck. It feels like a fretless wonder. It has some minor fret wear in the first position, but it is not enough to affect playability.
Lets talk condition-
there is one photo showing a ding next to a quarter for scale. It is the only real ding on it, and it is on the back. There is some very light worming on the back up towards the switch cavity and a couple of very minor dimples on the top. That's it. It really is that clean. No dings on the back of the neck at all. Hell, even the headstock corners are clean on this one. As you can see in the photos, it is still very glossy all over. It has a small area of the finish scraped away inside the pickup cavity to show the mahogany. For a 30+ year old guitar, I would call its condition amazing. It looks more like its 3 yrs old than 30.
Every single component on the guitar is original with the exception of the nut. It has been replaced by a bone nut. This brings us to its only real issue- the D and G string slots have been cut just a couple thousandths too deep, causing a very minor string buzz at the open position. I did the age old paper shim trick and it took care of it immediately. You could either shim the whole nut or have a new one cut and installed (recommended). Otherwise it is top notch. You will never find a cleaner one. Ever.
The original hard shell Burny case is included and has done it's job well. A couple of the latches could use a little adjustment, and it has a good sized tolex rip along the bottom edge (see pic). It is in otherwise good shape with a few nicks here and there. It is in fine working condition to protect it for another 30 yrs.
Please ask all questions before bidding. Free shipping is to the continental lower 48 states only. I will ship elsewhere, but you are gonna pay for it. The guitar is for sale elsewhere as well, so I reserve the right to pull the ad at any time.
I would consider trade for a really nice blackface bassman, bandmaster or tremolux head.
