The Super Electric Fuzztone is a recreation of the Maestro FZ-1A Fuzz-Tone, a classic early fuzz from the mid 60s. It uses three germanium transistors and is solidly built on vintage style tag-strips.
While the original FZ-1A ran on a single 1.5v battery, this pedal uses some voltage reduction circuitry which allows it to be run on a regular negative-center 9v power supply or 9v battery. This provides the circuit, which is kept stock, with the necessary 1.5v.
I used my original FZ-1A Fuzz-Tone as a reference to ensure a sonically faithful result. Please note that the original Fuzz-Tone is not for sale and is shown here for reference only.
